Background and Rationale
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes more embedded in public service delivery across Asia, there is a growing need to ensure its use is responsible, strategic, and aligned with public value. Governments in the region share common opportunities and challenges – from ethical governance and transparency to skills development and cross-border collaboration.
Against this backdrop, the Institute of Administrative Information Systems (AIS) and the Graduate School of Public Policy (GraSPP) at The University of Tokyo will co-host an international seminar under the banner of the “Virtual Digital Government Seminar 2025”.
The seminar will:
• Foster regional networks for AI governance and application in the public sector;
• Present the OECD’s new flagship report “Governing with AI”, highlighting its relevance for Asia;
• Encourage multi-stakeholder dialogue across government, academia, industry, and internationalorganisations.
